Design & Measuring Guide

Before You Measure The awning must be designed around all obstructions, so carefully note the position of all light fixtures, electrical wires, shutters, door clearances or any other obstruction. Recommended clearance from the floor or ground to the bottom of the valance is a minimum of 6' 6". Preferred clearance is 6' 8" to 7'.

For doors that open outward, measure for head clearnace with the door open to be sure the door will clear the awning.

Measure each opening seperately. Do not assume all windows and doors are the same size.

How to Measure

Determining the Width for All Shapes. Measure the width of each window or door opening over which an awning will hang from outside trim to outside trim. Add at least three inches to allow the awning to attach to a flat surface. Always be sure that there is enough flat wall space to accommodate the height of the awnings as well. Make good notes-record the width of your flat wall space for each opening.

Deco Domes Deco Dome
Deco Domes are available in 5' and 6' widths. Simply choose the size that is at least as wide as the door or window sizes you recorded. The chart below will tell you the height and and projection ( how far the awning sticks out from the wall ) for the width you have chosen. Be sure you have enough flat wall space to accommodater the height of the dome, with no obstructions.
